Day 278: 365 Project

Speaking of themed birthday parties, a couple weeks ago, a friend of mine had  Lumberjack-themed birthday bash. I know, I know... I have amazing friends with great ideas. Well, Christina made her way up here to celebrate another year of Angelica, and Christina let me eyeliner her face! Yes, her beard was eyeliner. She took home the winning prize for best costume.

Doesn't she look like such a creeper?

I was Lady Lumberjack Lopez!! Well, once I got to the party, there were nametags, I picked out Pauly Pine. I forgot how hard it was to put your head in pigtails until that night. Not sure if it's noticeable in the picture, but I'm wearing Owl earrings. I fell in love with them at Claire's where they were clearanced down to less than $1! Win!

I used to turn bandannas into headbands when I was in high school, and decided it would probably go along with the lumberjack theme. I remember the last time I wore a red bandanna at school... it was when some random girl walked up to me and said to me, "do you bang?" Um. WHAT?! My thoughts exactly. No, I do not bang in a gang. That's something I'll never forget.

I love themed parties because not only is it fun to create something yourself, but it's also really neat to see what other people come up with.

Day 277: 365 Project

On Saturday night, Sam and I are going to a Mad Men themed birthday party for a friend of mine. Figuring out what to wear has been fun, but also a little difficult. After scouring the internet, I realized that I can wear a fancy dress that I already have. After that was decided, I just needed to figure out accessories. Well, a fancy dress calls for a fancy hat.

I went to the mall and found basically nothing. I needed something inexpensive. I found a hat at JcPenney that would work. It was black and had a black flower on it made from the same material of the hat. I figured I could do something with it, so I bought it.

After my amazing husband removed the black flower, I made this:

I don't know if that's where I'll put the flowers, but that's basically what it'll look like.
I got the cream colored and light pink flowers at Joann's. I attached the golden things in the middle (what it's actually called escapes me) and the pearls.

I'm very excited to wear it on Saturday, along with the rest of my '60s attire.

Day 276: 365 Project

I think I was a senior in high school when I got my first cell phone. I've had a total of five cell phones. The one in stars was my very first cell phone. I found it at my mom's house while rummaging through some things. Look at it compared to my newest phone! The screen on my blackberry is nearly the size of my very first phone.

My second phone was a black and silver flip phone. I sure did love that phone, but it had one too many falls and I ended up with a blackjack. My blackjack was my next pick and was the same color as my Blackberry. I loved that phone. It decided to randomly stop all my ring tones from working. When I asked them to replace it, they first blamed it on the water damage my phone had. Soo.. water damage that only affects my ring tones? Hm. Then, without thinking, I had told them that I downloaded ring tones from a "third party" ... but a year prior. Ah, that was the reason why my phone stopped working. Must be one of those viruses that stay in your phone for a year before they activate. Yeah, that makes sense. With the risk of this happening again, I went with the Propel phone. A phone I didn't like and when my contract was up, I got a Blackberry.

I do love my blackberry. One of my favorite things about it is that it's touchscreen, but also has a full slide out keyboard. It has its quirks, but I still love it.

Yes, I'm making my way through my 365 project with the most random posts.... Enjoy!

Day 267, 268, 269, 270, 271, 272, 273, 274 & 275: 365 Project

Magnificent Maker - Music - Mustaches - Memories

I know I'm weeks behind, but a few weeks ago, Sam and I made our way to Hollywood to see David Crowder Band in its final tour.

I didn't even realize how much David Crowder Band's music has had on me until that night. It was so sad that that night would be the last time I enjoy their music in that way. It was my third or fourth time dancing and praising God to their music in a room filled with others doing the exact same thing. I'm not going to lie, for the most part, Christian music isn't that great. It can be boring, and not challenging in the least. David Crowder is one of the bands that stepped outside the box and turned Christian music into something fun and spiritual.

I think the best moment of the show was when John Mark McMillan came out and took the mic while David Crowder was singing How He Loves Us. For those who don't know, How He Loves Us is originally John Mark's song, but David Crowder is the one who made it famous. It was even better when they sang the line "sloppy wet kisses" instead of "unforeseen kiss." Don't you just love John Mark's incredibly deep voice too??

I wish I could have videotaped the entire thing, but since we were in the middle of the crowd, and I'm short, my arm was killing me. Watching it again still gives me chills. The only downside of the concert was that we weren't super close. I hate being short and being at concerts where you stand up the entire time. We were standing for over six hours. I think my feet might still be recovering. Wouldn't trade it for anything though.

While we were waiting in line, we saw Crowder about the cross the street. I felt like I was apart of TMZ or something at this point.

After much standing in line, and then standing around inside the Hollywood Palladium, John Mark McMillan. He's the second main reason we went to the show.

Next, Chris August came on stage. He was a snazzy dresser! Definitely the snazziest there. He was so funny, and seemed like a really nice, down-to-earth fello. He also put on a wonderful set.

Next was Gungor. I'd never even heard of them before, but the music these few people put together was incredible! And to think that this was just their "acoustic" set. The man below with the cello is also a beat boxer.  Apparently, he's been on The Sing-Off, so that's pretty cool.

After three wonderful talents, David Crowder band came on. He's the strangest looking man with a huge heart.

And yes, that's a keytar. I only wish I had a picture of him playing the Guitar Hero guitar. Yes, one of the guys in the band actually programmed a Guitar Hero guitar to play actual music. If that's not extremely awesome and nerdy, I don't know what is.

Everybody praising and lifting their hands! Dance party!

And if the concert wasn't already amazing, it was time for some bluegrass. What fun!

The odds of a show having four bands, and each band being spectacular, is unlikely. I couldn't believe great the show was in its entirety. A night of worshiping the God who created it all, that I'll never forget.

Day 261, 262, 263, 264, 265 & 266: 365 Project

A couple weeks ago, Sam and I went to a concert in Hollywood (another blog for another day). We stood in line outside for over an hour, then inside for a while waiting for John Mark McMillan to start his set.

These are the pictures that came from having a lot of time on my hands.

Thrift store and Free HIV Testing?! What a win!

Where we saw the concert.

Palm trees between two buildings... in case you didn't know.

There were several beautiful chandeliers all over the place.

Nothing else to say, friends.
Happy Wednesday!

Day 260: 365 Project

Well, I saw these guys when I went to the fair. I forgot I had taken a picture with my phone until today. I thought it would be fun to throw it through a filter since the quality of the picture wasn't that great anyway. Remember before digital tv when every channel was slightly static-y? That's what this picture reminds me of.

Sam and I were walking around the fair and walked by the KSEE24 News booth when these guys started to play their makeshift drums. I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but the stools had five gallon water jugs attached to them upside down. The stools also had some sort of pan attached to it too, like the ones on the ground. They were really great. It was fun to watch.

At one point, they all threw their sticks in the air and one guy said "bananas are flying everywhere!"

Day 259: 365 Project

I am so very behind on blog posting. I have so much to share too!

On Tuesday night, Sam and I went to the Big Fresno Fair because it was $2 Tuesday. It was a lot of fun. We shopped around, played a couple games and ate some crazy food.

We ordered a deep fried Klondike Bar from Chicken Charlie's.
And. It. Took. Forever. For. Us. To. Get. It.
Some random person said it was theirs and took it.
So they had to make another one. Since it was an inconvenience to us, they gave us free deep fried Koolaid. I couldn't believe it. No one does things like that when things get messed up, especially when it wasn't their fault. Major kudos to Chicken Charlie's.

They were both disgustingly pretty good. The Klondike bar was pretty much what I expected. Bread with chocolate and ice cream. The Koolaid was really weird. I still don't know if I actually liked it or not. Is it possible to actually like it? I don't know.

A fun experience that my arteries will never forgive.

Stachetastic Day 250, 251, 252, 253, 254, 255, 256, 257 & 258 : 365 Project

Wednesday night Angelica, Stacie and I went to The Big Fresno Fair to see The Fresno Face Hair Face-off. It was rather amazing. Clearly, Angelica and I had the most rocking-est highlighter mustaches. There were a plethora (yes, I just used the word plethora) of amazing 'staches, beards and sideburns of all shapes, sizes and even colors.

This guy was one of my favorites. He even had a nifty outfit.

The winner got front row tickets to see ZZ Top that evening. This guy definitely had the most ZZ top-ish beard.

I love this guy's facial twirls.

And what bearded man is better than Summertime Santa?

We also found out that there was a mustache club in Fresno. I think we might have to pull-off a Mulan-type situation to attend these meetings. Note the mustache on his sash.

It was a very successful bearded evening. These men treated their facial hair as works of art. And frankly, I don't blame them.

Day 249: 365 Project

Yes, a classic gas station mirror picture to show off my new glasses. On Thursday, I picked up my new eyes. I love being able to see well again. I had my old glasses for three years, so it was definitely time to get a new pair.

I went in a different direction with my glasses time. Usually I get the thick, plastic frames, but this time I got some metal brown ones. I liked how the frames are thicker on top than the bottom. They're Banana Republic.

Also, look how cool my wedding ring looks in the mirror.

A Wonderful Wedding Weekend

I love weddings.
I enjoy watching two people who love each other so much they have decided to commit their lives to each other.  All their friends and family come together to watch them start the rest of their lives. It's truly a beautiful thing that God created.

Weddings are also fun because every one is so completely different. I love seeing how people individualize their special day to their specific tastes; colors, themes, decorations, cake flavors. I have to say though, that Tim and Jenna's wedding was the most unique, well-thought out wedding I've ever attended.

Get in a time machine and let's jump back to Thursday night. Sam and I left Fresno after I got off work and spent that night in Porterville to shave some time off our drive to Redlands since Sam had to be at the Mitten Building at noon for rehearsal. Thursday night, we tied hemp rope around cookie bags. The cookies were lovely, and I must say, look at how awesome the bows look. Yup, I was a part of that process.

Friday morning we drove down to Redlands. Got there, did the rehearsal thing, then went to Tim and Jenna's house and pretty much hung out there for the rest of the day. We got to the hotel pretty late, but we were pleased with how nice the hotel was. We stayed at Ayres Hotels because of a really sweet deal we got on Travelocity. It was especially awesome because I decided to take a bubble bath and could see the television from the bathtub... so I watched Melissa McCarthy host SNL! It was awesome.

Anyway, Saturday morning we got up and went to grab breakfast. Another great thing about Ayres was their breakfast. They had bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, waffles, coffee, fruit, cereal, bagels, pastries... pretty much anything you can think of. And this was all included in the hotel bill. After breakfast, Krista (my brother-in-law's wife.. so.. my sister-in-law, right??) and I went to get a mani/pedi before the wedding. After walking there, and realizing how hot it was, we decided to have one of the husbands come get us, so Sam picked us up.

Got ready, then it was weddin' time. Got to The Mitten Building a couple hours before the wedding started, helped tie some chair bows and what not. Everyone gathered upstairs, anticipating the ceremony.

I always love watching the groom as his bride makes her way down the aisle.

Jenna listening intently to what Tim has to say to her.

Mr. & Mrs. Tim and Jenna Lopez!!

Cutting of the cake!

This is me having fun and taking pictures of the centerpieces.

Yes, I love him.

Of course my pictures didn't come out this way, I threw on a 70s filter to complement the "vintage" theme. My only regret of the weekend is forgetting to get a picture of Sam and I all dressed up. He looked so snazzy!

Congratulations & Best Wishes to Tim and Jenna!
Now to unpack...
