Day 31: 365 Project

One month completed!!

This was taken the other night in the foggy weather. Obviously, I edited it with Photoshop. I think it looks pretty cool. Aliens, anyway?

Day 29 and 30: 365 Project

I got behind again! Bummer. Just because last night I had a terrible headache. So today you get a double dose of awesome. Well, if you like the pictures anyway.

Day 29:

This all started on Thursday night when I went to Starbucks with Sharon. We're currently reading through Romans, which I am really loving. Anyway, we noticed this awesome telephone booths. We both thought that they would look really cool with fog. Now, this photo doesn't have a ton of fog, but I still really like it. The next morning I went to take a picture of it, but the daylight fog wasn't working for me. Friday night, Sam and I went to take pictures. So glad I got a decent picture of this! Dedicated to Sharon!

Day 30:

Same night. We walked across the street to Fresno State. Sam noticed the parking lot lights. They looked awesome. I realized that I like setting the camera on the ground and taking a picture that way. I just told Sam that and he said, "Why? Do you want people to see the world from your point of view?!" Mean!! Haha Anyway, the creeper in the picture is Sam. I think it looks pretty cool though.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Day 28: 365 Project

"Coffee. Book. Scone. Camera."

This morning I went to Starbucks. I actually went there to get a different kind of foggy picture, but it just wasn't working for me. I ended up going inside to get some breakfast and read. I got my favorite which is a Iced caramel machiatto with non-fat milk and a cranberry orange scone. So good!

So I was sitting there reading and in walks Angelica and Stacie! What a nice surprise! I was at the Starbucks right across from Fresno State (where they work).

Have a good weekend.

Day 27: 365 Project

"Jumping Out of the Garden"

Blogspot can be be annoying. Why? They flip my pictures. This is supposed to be horizontal. Not sure why it won't let me flip it back. Anyway, I thought this was a neat picture. It's a beautiful flower! It kind of looks like it's jumping out of the garden at the camera because the background is fuzzy and looks so far away.

Day 26: 365 Project

"Banana Bread Time!"

It kind of looks like there's ham in it, or some kind of luncheon meat. I promise that there isn't. I've been wanting to make it since Sunday. Tammy (Children's Director) told me to take all the extra bananas home so they wouldn't go to waste. I didn't what to do with them, but she suggested banana bread! It's sooo good.

Yeah I know, more food pictures.

Day 25: 365 Project

"Glowing Flower"

Lately I've been going a little crazy from being inside constantly. I don't really have any reason to go out. I'm not a shopper, especially when I don't have any money. It's not like I'm Ros Russell and Ava Gardner (a cookie to the person who knows where I got that from!). I've just been inside cleaning. I mean, I have plenty of organizing and cleaning to do because Sam and I are still "moving in together." That consists of rearranging stuff, deciding what to keep and what to get rid of and just clearing the crazy clutter. But with being inside all day, I'm getting a little cabin fever.

Anyway, I went to get the mail today, which requires me to walk to the front of the apartment complex. It's a nice walk from my apartment, which is in the very back. Along the way, I took several pictures. I really liked this picture. I really like how the fuzzies on the stem are glowing! The sun was hitting this flower perfectly. If you can't see the fuzzies, click on the picture to enlarge it. Fuzzies are the best part so I don't want you to miss out!

Day 24: 365 Project

"Bringing Hope"

Another picture from my foggy day photoshoot yesterday. This one is Sam's favorite of the bunch. I hope you like it too! :)

Day 23: 365 Project

"Morning Mist"

This morning Sam and I got to church early because he had worship practice. It was SO foggy. I went outside for a little bit (pretty much as long as I could tolerate the cold) to take some picture. There were about 5 or so that I really, really liked. So I'll probably be posting those too sometime along the way.

And I love Photoshop for fixing the contrast on this photo.
Happy Sunday!

Day 22: 365 Project

"Mmm... Muffins"

Today is a breakfast for lunch kind of Saturday. I made Cinnamon Streusel muffins! They're delicious! Well, they're made from a box, so you can go get the same box and make them for yourself. You should do this because they're delicious!

I think I'm going to go have a bowl of cereal and another muffin. Have a good Saturday!

Day 21: 365 Project

"Orange You Glad it's a Lemon"

These lemons are from Sam's Teazer drink, that's why they're a little pinkish. As you can probably tell, I enjoy taking pictures of food. I like taking pictures of nature too, which means I need to get out more.

Want to know where I primarily take these pictures? Probably not, but I'm going to tell you anyway. The first place is the every so popular kitchen table. The other one is one top of my record player. It nice and flat and right next to a lamp.

Happy Friday!

Day 20: 365 Project

"Oh Hi Abe"

Tonight I went to TGI Friday's with Sharon. When I got out my money to pay, I realized I had an old five dollar bill! Haven't seen one of these in forever, so I decided to take a picture of it. Enjoy!

Day 19: 365 Project

"The Official Lighting of the Candle"

Sam plays guitar every year at the Christmas Eve Candle Light service at Port Naz. The candles are lite at the end of the service and Sam is always on stage playing  "Silent Night," so he always misses lighting the candle because, well, he's using the two hands he has to play guitar. He said that he likes being on stage because then he gets to see all of the candles lite up. Which, I have to admit, would be pretty neat to see. Well, this year I decided to keep my candle so he can light it up. That way he can't say he's never gotten the chance to do so.

So here he is with the candle lite.
And now, he's burning a candy cane with the fire.
It actually smells pretty good.
Good day.

Day 18: 365 Project

"Tea For Two"

After briefly visiting with Sam's grandpa at the hospital (who is doing much better, by the way), we went by Teazers in Tower District just to sit down and talk and what not. Haven't really had the chance to do that lately with all the craziness going on.
I love the tea here. I don't usually like tea either. I got my usual, The Honolulu. It's SO good! So fruity and wonderful. It's super sweet though, sweet enough that when the ice melts, it doesn't taste watered down at all.

Sam had a delicious drink called Dragon something or other. Didn't get the name of it. It was weird because it tasted creamy, but it didn't have any cream in it. Just went down smoothly!

If you have the opportunity to go to a Teazers, you should because it's the place to be!

Day 15, 16, 17: 365 Project

So sorry that I've missed so many days! This wasn't supposed to happen. I even had pictures to take and use for the weekend. We went to Porterville for the weekend for a wedding. Porterville trips always go by so quickly, such a bummer. Anyway, I had forgotten my computer in Fresno, and remembered about it halfway to Porterville. When we were at the wedding, I had the camera and was going to take pictures there, but quickly realized that the SD card was in my computer, which was still in Fresno. I was so very sad! I decided it would be far too much work to figure out a way to get pictures for Saturday and Sunday so this post is my "make up post."

PS: Sorry for the lack of creativity in this one.

Day 15:

Congrats to Teri and Tom! :) At the wedding, they had super cute centerpieces! It's amazing what a few simple items can do. I got to take one home too, which I was super excited about. Not what I'm going to do with it. My mom said I could put a Beta fish in there, which would be really cool. I was thinking of taking the water out and making it a candle holder. There's a lot of fun options. Also, if you're reading this Sheri, you made it in my blog! Hahaha

Day 16:

The Lopez' doggie, Chuck. I'm sure you've heard of him. He snuggled up beside me into a ball. So silly, but doesn't he look super comfy? I vote yes.

Day 17:

You may or may not have heard my drama with this place, but I've finally started! Remember that job I got in November? Well, I didn't hear from them until last week. Tonight I had my first training. I have training tomorrow and Wednesday night. I can start tutoring as early as next week. This is a picture of all the stuff they gave us tonight. I'll be tutoring reading to elementary-aged kids. Should be good. Still looking for a full-time job, but this will work for now. It's does seem like a good company and a great opportunity.

Day 14: 365 Project

"Burgeoning Foliage"

This is a picture I took on the same day I posted the puddle picture. Haven't been feeling that great today, so I've had a lack of creativity. Mostly sinus stuff, I think. It's always sinus stuff. Gah. Anyway, I really like this picture.

Enjoy your weekend. :)

Day 13: 365 Project

"The Apologetic Brownie"

Tonight Sam and I had dinner at Irene's in Tower District. I know, you're very jealous. And if you aren't, you should be. They have the absolute best burger you will ever eat. SO GOOD. And so very big. I didn't get that tonight because I had the french dip, which is also amazing. If you are ever in Fresno with us, or anyone, demand they take you to Irene's.

Anyway, Sam ordered a beer at the beginning of the meal. They never gave it to him. We got the food, still no beer. Sam said that if they didn't bring it to him then he's not going to say anything because he likes to drink some of it beforehand so he can be finished with it by the time he finishes his food.

At the end of the meal, our waiter comes over and apologizes for forgetting the beer and gives us a free brownie! These brownies aren't cheap either, probably like $3. We haven't eaten it yet, but will probably try it tomorrow.

Doesn't it look yummy?!

Wow! Almost didn't finish this in time! Phew!

Day 12: 365 Project

"Attack of the Ducks! .... and an apple?"

Okay, this post actually has two parts.

Part 1 - The Apple Man: On Facebook I did that whole "Pay it Forward 2011" thing where you give the first five people to comment on your status something that you made yourself. I made Angelica this Apple Man.

Here's the breakdown:
1. Apple body: Well, I wasn't sure what to use for the body so Sam and I were at Walmart looking around. Then I was like, maybe an apple? And Sam said, "well an apple is related to The Beatles." Angelica loves The Beatles. Then I was reminded that it was and I was like Have to get the green one then!
2. The mustache: Because Angelica is a mustache connoisseur. Pretty sure she would grow one herself if she could. I made the mustache out of felt.
3. Googly eyes: Just because googly eyes are awesome
4. Top hat: Because Angelica is a top hat wearin' gal. I was especially proud of how the top hat turned out. It's made out of construction paper and purple felt.
5. The Beatles Album: Like I said before, she loves that band and that's her favorite album. I just printed out a copy of the album cover and glued it to a piece of cardboard.

I was pretty happy with how it turned out! Had a lot of fun making it too!

Part 2: Given to me by Angelica... Rubber Duckies!!

Just before Christmas, Angelica came over and noticed that I had a variety of rubber duckies set up in front of my television. She asked me if I collected rubber duckies, I paused and thought about it, and Sam quickly answered for me with a "YES!" and I'm just like, "I guess I do." Never really thought about it before. This sort of information Angelica uses for evil. Well, not really, but I see my home being filled it mountains and mountains of different duckies now that she knows. And you know what? I'm perfectly alright with that.

She got me the hippie duck because she wants me to think of her. Love it! Then she got me the two Christmas duckies which are so completely awesome. Had I not been distracted while taking this picture, I would have noticed that one duckie was stealing the other duckie's thunder, but it's okay. The duckie in front has the most awesome hat! And the other duckie with the crazy hair -- if that's hair -- lights up! It's like a rave or something. So fun! So I was happy to add these four to my rubber duckie family. Welcome to the gang, guys!

Wow! Day 12 and I have yet to miss one! Watch... now tomorrow I'm unable to post.

Day 11: 365 Project

Disgusting Goodness

Looks can be deceiving. You know why? Because while this looks disgusting, it was actually very tasty! Tonight I made Quesadillas for dinner. They were yummyful. Really, they were.

Not really sure what else to say, so I'll let you go.

Until next time!

Day 10: 365 Project

and the Light overcame the darkness
"The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it." - John 1:5

Just to let you know, this picture wasn't taken today. In my 365 folder on my desktop, I have an extras folder inside that holds pictures that I take randomly to use on days I don't get the opportunity to take a picture. And yes, you just got a sneak peak at how freakishly organized my computer is. Don't be alarmed!

Anyway, I love candles. They're all over my apartment. This particular candle was used in the wedding proposal process! Therefore, it's extra special.

I also just really like this picture. I love how dark it is, but the light from the fire brings about such brightness in this photo. I think this is a wonderful way to remember how even in the darkest of times, having faith in Jesus Christ can bring the light that nothing else can. That's especially what I need to remember, especially now when I'm trying figure out what I'm supposed to do with my life since graduating. I was turned down from the job I really wanted because I didn't meet all the requirements, but I'm trying to remind myself that God has a plan for me and I just need to give it to him fully. If he didn't want me there, then I don't want to be there.

The Jan. 2 chapter in Oswald Chamber's book, "My Utmost for His Highest," really spoke to me and I see it being the chapter I continually go to throughout the year for reminders to trust God. It says, "The only thing you know is that God knows what He is doing. Continually examine your attitude toward God to see if you are willing to 'go out' in every area of your life, trusting in God entirely." I challenge you to remind yourself of this because I think it's a key component of a Christian's life that's often looked over.

Another great thing to remember is: "Believe God is always the God you know Him to be when you are nearest to Him. Then think how unnecessary and disrespectful worry is!" I've never thought about it this way before! Not only is God the same throughout time, but he's got your back! Worrying gets you nowhere and who are we to worry about what the Creator of the world is doing with our lives? He has it all under control. Of course we can't go worry-free, that's just a part of human nature, but that doesn't mean it's necessary, so every time you worry about something (large or small) be comforted in knowing that Christ knows what he's doing.

Wow. That turned out to be a lot longer than expected, but it's just something that's been on my heart a lot lately. Hope it encourages you as much as it's encouraged me!

Day 9: 365 Project

Sam Sam, the Bass Guitar Man

Well, I went with Sam to church early this morning because he had worship practice for the service. Anyway, he was dressed up super snazzy! Good lookin' fello right there, but maybe I'm just a little bias. Don't you just love love love his red tie?!

That's all for today.
Also, keep Sam's grandpa and the rest of the family in your prayers. Thank you! It's much appreciated!

Day 8: 365 Project

Yard Sale Finds!

Like I said from day one, not all my photos will be creative. Hope you enjoy anyway!

Now, I know what you're thinking, this doesn't look like your typical yard sale finds, but I really did get all of this at yard sales. There really wasn't much out there today. I figure because it's super cold. Sam and I had fun anyway. It's the first time we've taken a Saturday morning and gone to yard sales since we've been in Fresno.

Aside from the Steve Martin record, we got all the rest of the stuff at one yard sale. This woman said like she really likes coupons. She's not kidding either. There was entire table filled with brand new stuff bought from Target. Everything from dish soap, medicine, razors to cookies and gum. It was outrageous. I also got some Trident Layers gum that's not pictured here.

Total spent for the day? $7! Yes, that's right, I only spent $7! It was awesome.

I consider today the day we braved the cold! Shiver!

Day 7: 365 Project

An Orange Frenzy

This is what orange looks like. My friend Stacie suggested that I take a picture of something orange. It started out with just the hand sanitizer and orange, but escalated into this. Then I decided I wanted an orange backdrop, so I got the Shamwow. Then I just found other random orange items around my apartment. It was rather fun!

The most fun part though was when Sam came home. I was on my computer sitting at the kitchen table and he walks in, I say hi and turn back to my computer. A few seconds I turn around and he's staring at my orange setup, then he's like "What the heck?!" Haha! Yes, it was awesome.

Happy Friday!!

Day 6: 365 Project

Upside Down Cupcake Madness

This picture is the result of a suggestion from my friend Krista to take a picture of something upside down.

This is a leftover cupcake from Sam's work. Tasty, but too much frosting for my liking. Ironically, the frosting is my favorite part of this picture. Sam and I were eating dinner last night, and this cupcake was sitting there and I thought the cupcake would be the perfect thing to take a picture of upside down because of the large amount of frosting.

Enjoy!

Day 5: 365 Project

Goodbye Gym

Have you ever seen that episode of Friends where Chandler wants to cancel his gym membership because he never goes? You know, because what's the point of having $50 taken out of your bank account every month for no reason, right? Chandler can't do it alone because they always get him with this beautiful woman named Maria, and the worker at the front desk asking him if he's completely satisfied with his body. Ross ends up going with him for support and to get Chandler to stay strong. The most commonly used phrase in that episode was, "I wanna quit the gym!" It's a great episode, but I've never really understood how so very true that episode is until now.

Sam and I have been wanting to get a gym membership somewhere, probably not at the moment, but when I get a job and we can make a monthly commitment. We just want to get some prices. There's this new gym that recently opened in Clovis, not to far from our apartment, so we decided to check it out because they seemed like they had decent prices. It looked like a great deal from the outside looking in with their cheap prices, new equipment and atmosphere. Then we stepped inside and that's when all hell broke loose.

From the first sentence with the guy at the front desk, I knew we had a Friends-gym-esque situation on our hands. He showed us around the gym, everything was alright. We sat down with him, and then a guy came up to us, all muscle, all manipulating. He said to the other guy that something or other was going on at the front desk. Obvious lie, at least it was to me. He starts talking to us and asking us about lives, health and weight goals, etc.

He finds out our majors and asks us if we're eggheads? What are we? In the '90s? Pretty sure I just heard that on an episode of Boy Meets World. He's like "oh, I'm a jock, I don't even know how to read." Something he seemed proud of for some reason. He EVENTUALLY tells us his (turns out he's the owner) prices. They were actually pretty cheap, but we just don't have the money to make a commitment. We said it over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. He continued to badger us. I was getting aggravated, but I'm not one to get angry at someone and express my opinion. He could not just understand how a couple with one income who recently got married don't have any money. Shocker, right? He was like, "You're going home to think about it? You've thought about it, you've got to do something about it." And Sam responds with, "Well, we don't have the money right now." And he says, "Well, did you think it was going to free?"

And this was my breaking point. I say to him as nicely as I can that we have said numerous times that we don't have the money right now, maybe when we do we'll come back. I'm know there was anger in my tone, because well, I was angry. And he tells me that he's just trying to help, so there's no reason to be rude. He called me rude?! I'm not the one who isn't listening to their customers! I knew that if I hadn't said anything, he wouldn't have stopped. I was just sick and tired of this. He kept saying that he cared about us and wanted to help us. He gave us a cheaper rate, but he wasn't getting that we didn't have any money to give him. None. Not one cent.

Of course, after I say something, and he accuses me of being rude, he stops trying to get us to sign up then and there. He gives us some free passes, which you probably noticed at the top of the page. So if I were you, stay away from this place. If I'm going to a gym, I want to feel comfortable there, not be patronized.

As we're walking out, he tells Sam to take me to get some ice cream because that'll make me feel better. As if I was shaking with anger enough, he just had to add to it.

And we won't be going back to Fitness 19 again.

Sorry for the long post, wanted to give an explanation to my picture. And vent.

Day 4: 365 Project

Fence Reflections

Today, I asked for photo requests on Facebook and Twitter. The first I received was from my friend, Chris and he said "puddle." So I walked around my apartment complex, and tried to get a little creative with it. It hasn't really rained since Sunday, so I was happy to find some decent puddles around. This was taken just outside my apartment.

I tried to put it in black and white, but that just wasn't looking right then I tried sepia! Sam and I liked it a lot. Hope you like it too!

And if you have any requests, let me know! I have several days left! If you requested something today, I have it written down and will use it another day. Thanks! Let me know what you think.

Day 3: 365 Project

Sorry for the horrible quality on this one, but it was taken with my cell phone --- last minute.
Needless to say, I loved watching this girl, Sami (6), play M&M Skeeball! It was a hoot! Today, I spent all day over at the Clark's hanging out with the kids, doing laundry, etc. That's Tesla's rear end in the photo there.
Made for an interesting day, now off to bed (soon!).

Sunday, January 2, 2011

Day 2: 365 Project

And we're off! It's now day 2. And here's the picture:

This is a pretty rain-covered rose outside my kitchen window. There used to be these huge bright pink roses out there, but I realized today that they are gone. These little roses are still really cute! Next time I'll try some different angles and get a little more creative. I was standing outside in the rain trying to get a decent shot of these little guys.

Stay tuned for day 3 tomorrow!
Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday evening.

Day 1: 365 Project

Happy New Year!

What is the 365 Project? I'm happy you asked! The definition is different for everyone, but for me it's simple: A picture a day. Easier than it sounds, I'm sure of it, but I'm up for the challenge! I'll also write a short blog/caption to go along with the picture to explain why I took it and what it is.

Well, since today is the first day of the year, that means it's my first day to post a picture. Now, I'm just warning you because these pictures may not always be very creative and look pretty. They may just be random sightings of weird things I see throughout my day. Other times, I'm hoping to be more creative.

And I'm sure there will be days that I miss because that's life. For every day that I miss though, I plan to post that many pictures in my next post.

Goal: 365 pictures by December 31, 2011

Now, you'll have to excuse me for the first day. I had planned to post a picture from New Years, but when looking through the pictures I realized that I didn't take most of them and the picture should be of something I took a picture of.

So this is what I'm giving you:

Note: This picture is supposed to be horizontal, but for some reason Blogspot decided to change it and won't let me change it back.

Anyway, these are my sparkly nails to start the New Year! I'm not very good at painting nails as you can see because I can't sit long enough to wait for them to dry. I still like the sparkles a lot though.

If you would like to see what all this is about and are considering joining in the photo-rific fun, then please visit the 365 Project website.

If you sign up, please follow me! Here's my link: http://365project.org/mooshizzle/profile

See you for Day 2!
