Day 144: 365 Project

Today I did something that I don't think I've ever done.

If you know me at all, you know I'm all about the color green and big purses. And it's even better when the two are put together! I like a purse to be able to fit my wallet, camera, water bottle, a pen, chapstick, advil, phone, kleenex, granola bar and maybe a book. Small purses usually don't work out for me because it can't fit all my essentials (yes, I know I have a lot of "needs").

Today I stepped out of my "big purse comfort zone" and bought a smaller purse. You can see it above, and see how small it is by comparing it to the regular-sized Red Vine. (I also love love love Red Vines) See? It's small!

I went to Kohl's today because I got a gift card for graduation. I also had $5 off and 15 percent off coupons. Plus, they had an extra 25 percent off all clearance items today! It was a good day for me to go to Kohl's. I ended up going to both the Kohl's in Clovis and Fresno. I really like the Clovis Kohl's. Not sure if it's because it's newer, or what, but they have a way better selection. For less than $30, I got this purse (orig. $36 for $5), a shirt (orig. $36 for $18), and a really cute necklace (orig. $60 for $9). That was before the discounts.

I was proud of my great deals. I probably wouldn't have gotten the purse if it wasn't so cheap. I'm glad I did because it'll be nice to have a smaller purse. It's also a purse where the strap gets really long and I swing it over my head and hold it like I would a messenger bag. I like purses like that!

Happy weekending!

Wonderfully Tragic

**Contains Spoilers: You've been warned!**

I had no idea it was possible to dislike a show where the characters and storyline are both wonderfully written.

I finished the series finale of Everwood yesterday. It was an excellent episode which made up for all the sadness that encompasses the majority of all four seasons of the show. I may have a somewhat different perspective on the show than most since I watched several episodes back to back instead of one a week. I think that since I did that, the tragic events that took place in each episode held more weight. It was so hard to see these horrible things happen to characters I cared so much about.

Everyone has their not-so-fair share of trauma in their lives, I know I have. For me, I experienced more death before I graduated high school (I was 17 when I graduated) than most, I'm sure of it. Yes, I lost my father, both grandfathers, a great aunt (grandma's sister), a great uncle (grandpa's brother) and a good friend from church. I mean, how many funerals does a kid have to attend before it becomes excessive?

I do think the writers of Everwood did a great job when it came to how a person handled decisions and grief in a bad situation, but it seemed like there were many unnecessary sad plot lines that were just meant to keep the show going. Like Irv dying... I hated that. The series was coming to a close, he and Edna were about to tour the world in "phase 3." There was no need for him to die. I mean, don't get me wrong, every situation can't turn out perfectly and in any other show I would have still hated it, but I would have understood it. Since this show consistently has bad things happen, I sincerely think there was no reason for it.

Every character in the show has had at least one traumatic experience, if not more, happen. Let me break it down for you a little bit. I should have kept a list as the show went along, but here's the gist of what comes to mind.

Andy: Wife dies in tragic accident, and son sincerely hates him for majority of the show
Ephram: Mother dies, in love with a girl who he can't be with, pregnant ex-girlfriend he doesn't know about until more than year later, never meets son, misses Juliard audition
Delia: Mother dies when she is really young
Amy: boyfriend dies after several months in coma, falls into depression
Edna: Both husbands die
Irv: heart attack, eventually dies in final season
Bright: causes accident where best friend is put into a coma, best friend dies, doesn't get into dream college, gets fired from two jobs, loses love of his life because he cheated on her
Harold: loses medical practice because of a malpractice situation, wife gets cancer and because of it they are unable to adopt african child
Nina: gay husband who cheats on her with another man
Rose: Gets cancer, doesn't get to adopt an african child because of her cancer
Jake: recovering drug addict (narcotics), loses serious girlfriend because she's still in love with someone else
Hannah: moves away from because she doesn't want to see her father die of Huntington's disease, breaks up with love of her life because he cheated on her
Madison: Gets pregnant from underage boyfriend, asked not to tell him and ends up giving baby up for adoption
Linda: Has AIDs
Reid: expelled from medical school, tries to commit suicide
Colin: gets into car accident and ends up in a coma, eventually dies
Just about every person who walks into one of the doctor offices: Has some sort of rare, deadly, and/or unexpected disease

Granted, some good things do come out of these bad things, just like they do in real life, but it's still hard to watch the characters you care about go through so much in such a short amount of time.

One of the things I do enjoy about the show is that it really is hilarious at times. I think one of my favorite, random quotes is from Rose: "I can say ass, I have cancer." It made the bad situation a little lighter, which is nice sometimes when things are so tense.

And as I said before, Everwood really is beautifully written. If it's possible to write love, this show is the one to do it. Andy's narratives throughout the show to his wife really show what true love is and how long it lives even after a spouse has passed.

For those of you reading this who haven't seen the show (sorry for spoiling so much!), I hope I haven't completely discouraged you from watching it. If you ever get the chance to watch the show, I think it's one that'll make you appreciate who you have and what you have in your life right now at this moment.

Day 132, 133, 134, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139, 140, 141, 142 & 143: 365 Project

I am so very disappointed in myself! I don't even know how I got so far behind. Laziness and Craziness has gotten the best of me! But I am here to bring you the silliest blog of them all!

Are you ready?

Can I get a drum roll, please?!

No? Fine.

The Adventures of Pengwyn
*said in a really loud echo-y voice*
Yes, a giant stuffed penguin from Madagascar

Anyway, this penguin used to live with Sam and I. We realized that we didn't have much room and Sam and Scott offered to give him a nice home. He is very much loved over there... pretty sure a little too much. We still get to see Pengwyn once a week because we have Bible study over there. He's very happy.

Well, the picture below isn't Pengwyn-related, but it's Jesse's signature creepy look.

It was Jesse's birthday this weekend, so we decided to celebrate his first birthday on Monday night! Charlene did a wonderful job with the cake!

This one cracks me up because they're twins!!

These are the guys I spend a majority of my time with. And you know what? I wouldn't change a thing!

Jesse in pain after Sam sat on him. Pengwyn is just minding his own business.

Jesse drinking out of his very own Cars sippy cup!! You'll never guess what it's filled with... not anything a kid should drink. And he's squishing Pengwyn's booty!

See, Pengwyn lives an eventful life! And I suppose that I do as well!

Day 127, 128, 129, 130 & 131: 365 Project

Decided to play around a little bit with the Clark's front yard when I was there last week. They have the funnest stuff in their yard to take pictures of! Not much else to say. Enjoy!

Day 126: 365 Project

About a week ago or so, Angelica and I went out to lunch at Tsing Tao. Read the description for Crispy Beef! Pretty sure it's supposed to say:

"Crispy beef, shredded onion and stripe bamboo shoot cooked with special sauce -- no other Chinese restaurant does it like this."

Or at least something along those lines.
This place is my most favorite Chinese food place!! And they're decently priced too! I absolutely LOVE the string bean chicken. Their sweet and sour pork is good too.

Lunch is really cheap! When I was there last week, I got sweet and sour pork, fried rice, egg noodle soup, a small salad with some sort of really awesome dressing, an egg roll and a won ton... all for $5.50! I got a water with lemon and walked out with a bill that was less than $6! Great deal!

If you're in Fresno and haven't eaten there yet, it's on Shaw/Willow. Good food and really nice waitresses.

Expect more posts later because I'm behind ... again. Shocker, I know.

Day 125: 365 Project

Well, I was asked if I was interested in cleaning someone's house on Monday for a couple hours. A coworker of a friend of mine was moving and wanted the house clean for the new owners. Monday morning, I got together all my cleaning supplies and went over there. I was there for maybe three hours. The house really wasn't too bad. The floors in the Kitchen and Living Room were really dusty, but still wasn't too bad.

Anyway, the lady whose house it was offered me nine fish bowls. At first, I partially declined because I had no idea what to do with them. Eventually I decided to take them because I thought that someone I know would want them or I could sell them. I brought them home and Sam and I cleaned them all up. They were really dirty since they had been sitting in the garage.... for who knows how long. She said they were from the wedding, but I don't know when she got married. They're really nice! Sam and I are keeping one because we might get a fishy sometime soon. And my friend Sharon is taking one. I bagged up the remaining seven and they're sitting in my trunk to take with me to Porterville this weekend.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Day 124: 365 Project

This picture is one of my "too good not to share" pictures. I took this last year of a flower that Sam got me. I just love the colors! I was looking through my pictures and completely forgot about it. Enjoy!

Day 116, 117, 118, 119, 120, 121, 122 & 123: 365 Project

I knew I had some pictures laying around that I could post, but I couldn't find them on my computer. I then realized that they were on my phone. The camera on my phone is pretty good. I'm glad I have a decent camera on my phone now because it's fun to take pictures with it!

Sam and I went to Teazer in Riverpark. They have really cool lighting!

I really love this lighting fixture! It's gorgeous! I want one!

My Strawberry Fields came hot and in a cup with a cape! Whooooosh!

This picture was taken behind Advanced Medical Imaging (where Sam works). We went one evening to see if the duckies were out. They weren't, but I was still able to snap this beautiful picture!

These flowers are now dead, but they were out in front of my apartment complex.

I took this picture a couple nights ago on our way home from.. wherever we were. I don't really remember. Target, most likely. Beautiful sunset!

Another picture taken at Riverpark. Moon and Palm tree!

And last, but not least, apparently McDonald's has fancy ketchup now!

I really need to get back in the habit of posting every day. These long posts are hard to do!
Have a good week!
